The Texas born-and-raised Amy Knight Black grew up with New Braunfels' "hometown groove," hopping from river to river and paying regular visits to the original Schlitterbahn.
"I grew up playing in New Braunfels, so I have always loved it here," the real estate agent says. "There is always something fun to do, from the rivers and Schlitterbahn to our fabulous downtown full of restaurants, boutique shops, and entertainment."
Black has called New Braunfels home for the past seven years, drawn by its comfortable vibe, caring community, and easy commutes to both Austin and San Antonio.

Where to eat & drink
Black lists McAdoo's, Myron's, Krause's, and Downtowner among her favorites, and reveals a locals-only secret about Huisache: "Not only is it an amazing restaurant, but there are hidden shops and a wine bar behind it!"
Where to play
In addition to the famous Schlitterbahn water park, parts of which are fed by the Comal River, Black also recommends spending time at Landa Park and floating down the Guadalupe River.
What to see
Quaint is the name of the game in downtown, where the courthouse and gazebo light up at Christmastime to create a Normal Rockwell kind of feel.
Where to live
"I live in a remodeled home originally built in 1918," says Black, who is very familiar with the many Craftsman, Victorian, and modern farmhouse homes in the downtown area. "Each home has its own character and unique style — no cookie-cutter homes here."
